About This Program: This self-study course reviews preanalytical variables and their potential effect(s) on patient test results, with a focus on establishing guidelines, procedures, and techniques for collecting quality blood specimens that yield accurate laboratory results.

Keynote Speaker / Author: Leslie S. Magee, MBA, MT(ASCP)
Leslie is a Technical Services Specialist for BD Diagnostics, Preanalytical Systems, and has worked at BD for over 15 years. She also provides training for customers and BD sales representatives on proper specimen collection techniques and processing. Leslie previously worked in the stat laboratory at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, where she rotated through all areas of the clinical lab including chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, and coagulation, with her specialty being hematology. She has written in-depth articles on preanalytical variables for the popular BD LabNotes series and has presented at numerous trade association events.
Leslie received her B.S. in biology from Albright College in Pennsylvania and her MBA in marketing and finance at the University of Rochester in New York. She performed her clinical medical technology rotation at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, PA.
